Have Kaizer Chiefs got it wrong again? Nabi unhappy after club signed  ‘unneeded players’

The 58-year-old is adamant the new members do not meet the quality wanted by the Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has distanced himself from the signings made at the club, stating ‘they are not needed.'

The Glamour Boys have so far signed Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates, Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy, and Bafana Bafana international Rushwin Dortley who was playing for relegated Cape Town Spurs.

Sam was with Amakhosi in Turkey in the concluded pre-season, but he had to return home early after suffering an injury. With the Premier Soccer League set to start in the next two weeks, no other player has been added to the club which is worrying especially after a recent 4-0 loss against Young Africans in the Toyota Cup.

Amakhosi have made errors

In his interview with SuperSport TV, the former AS FAR Rabat coach revealed he is not content with the players that the management has brought to Naturena.

“I am very happy that I have got two new signings. They are needed in the team most, definitely, I do respect what the office has offered with the recruitment,” Nabi stated.

“However, the team still needs certain players for certain positions that will meet the expectations of Kaizer Chiefs. The fans also need to know that this is not a quick transformation for the club to be strong. We will definitely be signing players that I will not mention, but they are in line.

“The club has made some errors in signing players that were not needed. Players that were not the quality of Kaizer Chiefs. We need to be careful with the caliber of players we choose to meet the expectations.”

After missing out on MTN8, Chiefs will be aiming at staging a stiff challenge in the Premier Soccer League race, Nedbank Cup, and Carling Knockout.
