Bafana Bafana international Thabiso Sesane has conceded he almost quit football after failing to get his chance at Orlando Pirates.
The 24-year-old is doing well at the Buccaneers and has so far proved his worth after initially coming on as a cover-up for Ta[elo Xoki who was injured.
The center-back has seemingly won the heart of coach Jose Riveiro owing to his composed performances at the heart of the Pirates' defense. Sesane has been with the senior team since the 2020/21 season when he was promoted thanks to his solid displays with the reserve team.

He featured for Jomo Cosmos and the now-defunct All Stars FC respectively until the 2022/23 season.
I was shocked and almost quit football – Sesane
Happy Jele, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Happy Jele, Sandile Mthethwa, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Kwanda Mngonyama, and Olisa Ndah were some of the established defenders at Bucs, explaining why the technical team opted to loan him in the 2021/22 season.
“[During] pre-season in the North West, I think I got injured, so when we got to Johannesburg, I got a call from the office. They told me, ‘We’re loaning you out because we don’t think your space is available this season,'” the defender told Pirates TV.
“I was shocked, I said, ‘It's fine’, then they said, ‘It's Jomo Cosmos’. It was tough though [at Cosmos], I won’t lie, I was always crying. I was calling my mother and telling her I was thinking of leaving this whole thing.
“To be honest, when I left Jomo Cosmos [at the end of the season], I felt I had already given up. I felt like a loan player, I think I played 15 games at Cosmos.”
With his current form, it is interesting to see where Xoki will be played when Ndah returns from injury.
