Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa says he is aware that consistent play at his club significantly enhances his chances of being selected for the national team, Bafana Bafana.
Makgopa made these remarks during a press conference on Monday, as South Africa prepares to play against Uganda and South Sudan in the AFCON qualifiers.
He has established himself as a reliable player under the guidance of Belgian coach Hugo Broos, who included him in the AFCON squad earlier this year, despite some skepticism regarding his selection.
The former Baroka player acknowledged the challenge of securing regular playing time at Pirates but remains confident that when he does, it will lead to his inclusion in the national team.

MAKGOPA HAPPY TO BE PLAYING REGULARLY AT PIRATES
“I knew it was going to be tough. Every time you have an injury, it's tough,” Makgopa told journalists.
“Mentally, it can affect you, and you have to be strong at some point. For me, I am glad that when I came back, I had a place to start on the bench because it's tough as well to be on the bench at my team.
“So, I can say I was fortunate enough to manage to come back. Even now, I know if I can play, I can make my way back to Bafana. So, it's good to be back in the team.”
Makgopa expressed his desire not to disappoint Broos, who has shown great faith in his abilities.
‘I DON’T WANT TO DISAPPOINT BROOS’
“The only thing I can say is you don't want to disappoint such a person who has faith in you,” added Makgopa.
“So, the only thing you have to do for him is just to push when you are given a chance. You just have to do whatever you have to do.”
