Inacio Miguel issues rallying call to Kaizer Chiefs after winning first trophy

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel hopes the CUFA Cup win can be the catalyst for further success at the club.

Chiefs beat Marumo Gallants 4-3 on post-match penalties to lift their first trophy under new coach Nasreddine Nabi and Miguel was among a number of new players who were involved in the match.

The Angolan defender also captained the side, until Yusuf Maart was introduced in the 56th minute, and he had an impressive display in defence as he kept out a couple of great chances from Gallants.

What is giving Inacio Miguel hope for success?

Leading Amakhosi out was one of the proudest moments for Miguel who has rallied his team-mates not to relent and ensure they bring success to Naturena.

“Leadership is an action, not a position,” the 28-year-old said via an Instagram post.

“Happy for the effort & quality the team showed today [Sunday], & happy also to contribute to bringing a trophy to the Amakhosi nation. Together we are much stronger. Let’s go for more.”

Angolan defender among key players at Chiefs

Miguel has wasted little time to settle in at Chiefs since joining from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda in the off-season as he is among the starters at the club.

He has been named in the starting XI in their three league matches, scoring one goal, and will hope to maintain his place in the team as Chiefs take on SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 on October 19.
