Itumeleng Khune hits back at ex-teammate Brilliant Khuzwayo

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has responded to recent remarks made by his former teammate Brilliant Khuzwayo, who suggested that coaches showed favoritism towards Khune during their time at the club.

Khune was the established first-choice goalkeeper for Amakhosi for a significant period, with Khuzwayo often serving as his understudy.

While Khuzwayo did have opportunities to play, notably stepping up in Khune’s absence, such as in the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates where he gained significant recognition, he had previously claimed that Khune was selected even when he didn't warrant being picked ahead of him.

In response to these claims, Khune expressed his shock and asserted that when he was fit, Khuzwayo would not have had the opportunity to play.

‘I DON’T KNOW HE WHERE GET THIS’

“I saw Brilliant Khuzwayo coming out to attack me, saying other coaches did favours for me,” Khune told iDiski Times.

“But I don’t understand where he takes that from because we used to train together. We used to compete, and we used to have healthy competition.

“And if you had to go compare, you will see that he stood no chance of playing when I was fit because of what I did on the field whether at training, whether at Chiefs or Bafana Bafana.

“It’s his own opinion. I respect it.”
