The highly-rated tactician will take up a role at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz has left the club to return to Morocco just one week before the new PSL season starts.

Da Cruz is among the backroom staff that came to Chiefs with new coach Nasreddine Nabi but he will now return to Morocco less than three months after agreeing to become one of the tactician’s assistants.

Why is Da Cruz leaving Kaizer Chiefs?

The French-Portuguese coach will take up a role at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation with immediate effect, and leaves with the blessings of the Soweto giants.

“I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs, chairman and all the supporters for the welcome and affection they gave from the first day I landed in South Africa,” said Da Cruz.

“Thank you to the players, staff and everyone involved for making sure that everything was fantastic for me. I wish this great club everything of the best.”

Nabi and Da Cruz had not worked together previously but the former valued his knowledge as it is him who put in the structures at Moroccan side FAR Rabat where the Chiefs coach worked for one year before his switch to Naturena.

Da Cruz worked as technical director at FAR Rabat in 2021 before he was made head coach when Sven Vandenbroeck left the club but was replaced by Nabi before the start of last season.
