Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper attracting interest from France

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari is reportedly attracting interest from a French second division club that is keen to sign him in the off-season.

Ntwari became a bit-part player at Chiefs just months after signing for the club with great promise from TS Galaxy as he was seen as the man to take over from club legend Itumeleng Khune.

The Rwandan goalkeeper started well, playing the club’s first seven games, but when he sustained an injury, he lost his place and has never regained it.

Ntwari last played for Chiefs in October 2024 and has had to watch on as Bruce Bvuma has been preferred in goal but that has not stopped interest from abroad.

“There is a second division club from France; they also asked me about him,” Ntwari’s Rwanda national team coach Adel Amrouche told FARPost.

“I trust the coaches at Chiefs, and I hope between now and June, he’s going to get his chance to play again because we need him for the rest of the qualifiers.”

Amrouche has been impressed by the goalkeeper who he says has put in good performances for the national team despite his lack of game time at club level.

“He was good. I thought the lack of game time would affect him, but he was good,” added the Algerian-Belgian coach.

“You can see his teammates trust him, and I also trust him. I have a lot of confidence in him because of his qualities. He’s also an incredible person to work with. He’s a hard worker, and the players love him.  People love him in Rwanda.”

Rwanda are in the same World Cup qualifying group with Bafana Bafana, lying second with eight points from six matches, and will face Hugo Broos’ men in their final match in October.
