The South Africa international might find himself rubbing shoulders with the Red Devils after his team’s 2-1 aggregate win on Thursday night.
Kaizer Chiefs Academy graduate Siyabonga Ngezana played a crucial role as FCSB beat LASK 1-0 in the second leg of the Europa League play-offs staged at Steaua, Bucuresti to seal their place in the League phase.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Romanian giants had to win the second meeting by any margin to advance.
Bafana Bafana defender Ngezana, who is part of the Hugo Broos team to play Uganda and South Sudan respectively in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, was ready to help his team get the needed result to play in the second-tier competition after missing out on making the Uefa Champions League list.
Olaru delivers for FCSB
The first half ended goalless despite the many chances that were created by either team. It seemed the game would go to extra time, but the hosts had other ideas.
In the third minute of added time, Malcom Edjouma managed to find Darius Olaru who sent thousands of home fans into ruptures.
The final whistle was welcomed by everybody associated with FCSB, as Ngezana continues to shine in Europe less than two years after leaving Mzansi.
Ngezana to play Manchester United
FCSB have now been pooled alongside English heavyweights Manchester United in the League Phase. The fans will have a privilege of watching the Red Devils at home.
They will also host Midtjylland, Olympiacos and RFS. Their away games will be PAOK, Rangers, Qarabag and TSG Hoffenheim.
The top eight teams in the league will seal their place in the knockout phase automatically. Teams that will finish from the 9th to 24th place will have to take part in a two-legged Round of 16.
Teams that will finish in the 25th position or lower will be eliminated from the competition.
