The Soweto giants have suffered a huge loss against Tanzanian champions days after returning from Europe.
Kaizer Chiefs fans have another reason to be worried after a humiliating 4-0 loss against Yanga SC in the Toyota Cup game played on Saturday at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Amakhosi finished 10th in the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League, their worst finish, which prompted the management to make changes in the technical team. Nasreddine Nabi has been with the Glamour Boys for three weeks in Turkey, trying to instill his tactics and ideologies.
In their last two pre-season games, prior to the match against Yanga, Chiefs recorded a 5-2 win over Al Shahaniya before playing to a goalless draw with Dibba Al-Hisn. It explains why the supporters were optimistic about a good outing against the Tanzanian champions.

A good start but…
The Soweto giants had an impressive start, trying to string passes together and play a beautiful game. But Yanga, who had beaten TS Galaxy by a solitary game on Wednesday, were not ready to give in.
Zimbabwe international Prince Dube who scored the lone goal in the win against the Rockets, found the back of the net after 25 minutes. The goal looked like a motivator for the Glamour Boys who upped their tempo.
However, it was Wananchi who added the second through their dangerman Aziz Ki, after a good move.

An embarrassing finish
It got worse for the Nabi-led team in the 57th minute when Clement Mzize made it 3-0 despite the changes made by either team.
The Tanzanian champions then won the game in a convincing way with Burkina Faso international Ki completing his brace in the 63rd minute and ensuring the game ended 4-0, much to the disappointment of the home supporters.
It is a result that was not expected by Chiefs faithful especially after the preparations done.
The game is a testimony that Amakhosi need more quality players to stand a chance of competing with Mamelodi Sundowns and rivals Orlando Pirates next season.
