Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided to extend the contract of club captain Yusuf Maart amid interest from his former club Sekhukhune United.
Maart was coming to the end of his three-year deal at Naturena and Babi Noko were looking to lure him back but according to iDiski Times, the Glamour Boys have decided to keep him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Chiefs view Maart as an integral part of coach Nasreddine Nabi’s side, and his experience as well as leadership, are considered important for the veteran tactician who is still in the process of rebuilding the team.

Maart among midfield options at Chiefs
The club has therefore opted to hand the 29-year-old an extended stay and will hope to reap from his qualities given he is among a number of central midfield options at their disposal.
Maart has made 90 appearances for Chiefs since joining from Sekhukhune in 2022, scoring six goals while providing eight assists, during his time with the Soweto giants.

News of his new contract comes a day after it was reported that Chiefs have opted against signing Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithole as they consider central midfield an area that does not need reinforcements given Maart, Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa, Edson Castillo and youngster Samkelo Zwane are the options at the club while Njabulo Blom could also make his loan deal permanent.
With his future sorted, Maart will now look to fire Chiefs to Nedbank Cup glory with a final against cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates scheduled for May 10 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
