Kaizer Chiefs have handed wingback Donay Jansen a new three-year contract and improved his terms to keep him at the club for the long-term.

The youngster is among Chiefs academy graduates who have been impressive and were part of coach Nasreddine Nabi’s pre-season tour of Turkey following his promotion to the senior side last season.

Having impressed his new coach, the club has moved with speed to tie him to a new deal which will see him stay at the club until at least 2027.

Why are Kaizer Chiefs offering Donay Jansen a new deal?

“The offer of a new contract to Donay is a clear indication of the club’s faith in KCYDA’s potential. By extending Donay’s deal until 2027, we are not only securing his immediate future but also making a long-term investment in a player seen as crucial for the Club's ambitions on the pitch,” said Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“This move comes at a time when the club is focused on building a competitive squad that can challenge other teams in both domestic and continental competitions in the near future.

“Retaining a player of Jansen's calibre is vital as we aim to reclaim our status in the South African football landscape. The league is becoming increasingly competitive and having a blend of experienced players and burgeoning talents like Jansen will be essential for the team’s future success.”

The youngster will hope for more minutes in 2024-25

Jansen, who made two senior appearances last season after playing a starring role for the club’s Diski Challenge, is thrilled by the new contract and feels the club will give him an opportunity to further his career.

Jansen follows in the footsteps of other Chiefs academy graduates who have been integrated into the senior team such as Samkelo Zwane, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi
