Kaizer Chiefs poised for maiden DDC title after big PSL decision

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs can claim their first-ever DStv Diski Challenge title on Saturday if they secure a win against Magesi FC following a boardroom decision that went their way on Friday.

Chiefs, who had been leading the standings with one point over holders Stellenbosch with two matches to go, now find themselves with a four-point advantage and need just one win from their two games to be crowned champions.

This has come about after Chippa United were found guilty of failing to honour their fixture against Kaizer Chiefs on February 1, 2025 and the PSL Disciplinary Committee awarded Amakhosi all three points.

Where does the decision leave Chiefs?

That now takes Chiefs’ tally to 64 points from 26 matches, four ahead of Stellenbosch, and it means a title party could happen on Saturday when Chiefs take on Magesi.

It has been a great run for Chiefs, who have put together a nine-game unbeaten run that includes eight wins and one draw, to stay top of the table for most of the year.

Chiefs have lost just two games all season, winning 20, 19 on the pitch plus the one awarded to them on Friday, drawing four while losing just two.

The Glamour Boys have, however, been run close by defending champions Stellenbosch, who have also won 19 games on the pitch, but four losses have seen them play second fiddle to Amakhosi since the turn of the year.
