The administrator is convinced the Soweto giants will pick up and give the best in the forthcoming campaign after a nine-year trophyless run

Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs are done with their three-week pre-season camp in Turkey.

The Glamour Boys had time away from the fans in their bid to rebuild ahead of the 2024/25 season under coach Nasreddine Nabi who took over a couple of weeks ago from Molefi Ntseki. The team played a few friendly matches, with the latest being against Al Shahaniya SC and club Dibba Al-Hisn respectively.

Amakhosi finished 10th in the concluded season, which was their worst ever, and the management had to bring in a new technical bench.

‘It wasn't easy but we are satisfied'

Chiefs' Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. is delighted that the team took a bold step to camp in Europe, but as explained, it was not easy.

“We are satisfied with how our preparations have gone so far; it has not been easy, but the boys showed their tenacity and mental strength,” he told the media.

“Being away from family and friends in a foreign country is never easy, but we came together as a team and did it.

“The team and the coaches will continue to work on the new season’s preparations because we need to ensure that we are ready to compete when the season starts. We know it’s not going to be easy, and it will take a bit of time, but we do know that supporters will journey with us as we try and get back on track.”

‘We have done well, looking forward to the next steps'

The 42-year-old is happy with what has been achieved abroad and is now convinced things are looking up.

“I think [the pre-season abroad] was an important part of our plan for the technical staff,” Motaung Jr. continued.

“We had three weeks, it’s given the club the time to come together as a group, with the technical staff and their new ideas.

“It’s always very important in pre-season to make sure you get away, for morale, for team spirit and a new environment where you can solely focus on the task at hand. So I think it was very important for the club, I think we’ve done very well so far, and yeah, looking forward to the next steps.”

Chiefs play Yanga SC in the Toyota Cup on Sunday before the Premier Soccer League start on Saturday, August 3.
