Kaizer Chiefs table ‘improved offer’ for Stellenbosch FC star

Kaizer Chiefs are said to have tabled an improved offer for a Stellenbosch FC star as the club continues with attempts to strengthen the squad for Nasreddine Nabi.

It’s no secret Amakhosi have been out seeking a left-back following the departure of Sfiso Hlanti. They currently have Happy Mashiane and Nkosana Mbuthu as well as Bongani Sam who signed this transfer window.

Fawaaz Basadien of Stellenbosch has been on Chiefs radar for some time and the Western Cape side has previously rejected two proposals from Naturena.

According to Soccer Laduma, the Soweto giants have now tabled around R13 million to secure the signature of Basadien.

HOW MUCH CHIEFS HAVE TABLED FOR STELLENBOSCH TO GET BASADIEN

“They have now offered a new and improved amount of around R13 million. It's not clear whether that's what Stellies are looking for because they turned down R10 million at first,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

“The club is really interested in Basadien and they are doing all in their powers to have him but you know it will all depend if the new offer of about R13 million is good enough for Stellenbosch.”

Chiefs’ pursuit for Basadien is prompted by Nabi’s desire for an experienced left-back.

“They want to make sure that when they start the season they have an experienced left back as now they only have Happy Mashiane and Nkosana Mbuthu while Bongani Sam is out injured.

“As much as the coach wants to keep the youngsters to gain experience and build a future team, he wants two experienced left backs to compete and back up each other.

“That's why the club had tabled a new offer for Fawaaz (Basadien). They are hoping that around R13m would swerve Stellenbosch to accept the new offer,” the source added as per report.
