However, coach Nasreddine Nabi is still desperate to add quality attackers to help him get goals regularly.

“We would love to have him, we’ve had talks with the chairman of Polokwane City, not only about Oswin [Appollis] but other players also. It’s a process that’s ongoing,” the administrator said.

“I understand when coaches get frustrated if clubs mention their players in the media, we respectfully don’t do that but it doesn’t mean we’re not working as hard as we can on bringing these top talents.”

However, when reached, Polokwane City's Chief Operations Officer Tincy Tema denied knowledge of any bid tabled by Chiefs, “[The Glamour Boys] have not put in an offer,” he told SNL24.

So far, Amakhosi have struggled in landing their primary attacking targets. They missed on Khanyisa Mayo, Elis Mokwana and Asanele Velebayi.

Reports have it that they are considering going for veteran 34-year-old former Bafana Bafana forward Dino Ndlovu as a short-term option before they get the players they feel can help to build the team for a longer term.

Chiefs will start their Premier Soccer League outing on Saturday, September 14 against Marumo Gallants.
