Yusuf Maart praises ‘quality’ player Gaston Sirino for lifting others at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has lauded the positive impact of new signing Gaston Sirino to the squad.

Sirino joined Chiefs in the offseason as a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns and has had a great start to life at Naturena.

The Uruguayan-born playmaker has scored one goal and provided two assists but Maart says his influence goes beyond what he is doing on the pitch since a number of players at the club are also feeding off his experience and quality.

How is Gaston Sirino helping others at Kaizer Chiefs?

“I think there’s a few players who are [stepping up] this season, to be honest to you and Sirino is a quality player, you can’t take it away from him,” Maart said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“He’s making a difference in the team and we appreciate it as a team, he’s a happy person, he’s a jokey person and there are times when he’s very serious where work is work.”

Besides the qualities of Sirino, Maart says Chiefs players have also elevated their levels of performance thanks to the arrival of strength and conditioning coach Majdi Safi.

“I think what he [Majdi] wants, he puts it out clearly for everyone, for each and every player and the technical team and what he wants, we have to give it to him,” added the midfielder.

Chiefs claimed their first piece of silverware on Sunday when they won the CUFA Cup courtesy of a 4-3 win on post-match penalties against Marumo Gallants and will be back to competitive action on October 19 when they face SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16.
