Orlando Pirates captain Innocent Maela has offered his support to teammate Patrick Maswanganyi following the latter's penalty miss against Cape Town City.
The missed penalty, with the score still at 0-0, proved costly as Pirates ultimately lost the match 1-0.
Maela acknowledged the understandable frustration experienced by Maswanganyi, emphasizing that despite the loss, Pirates had controlled much of the game.
He noted that Maswanganyi was able to effectively process the disappointment, regaining his composure after the match.
Maela further highlighted that Maswanganyi engaged in a constructive analysis of the game, identifying areas for personal improvement.

MAELA ON MASWANGANYI
“When you play the way that we did, dominate the way that we did, and the result doesn’t go your way and players are upset and angry, I think that’s always a good sign because it shows the character that we have,” he told media.
“It shows that we want to win and win and win. Tito is a good professional, a few hours after the game he started analysing his match, how he can improve and get better.
“Obviously as a team when we analyse how dominant we were, obviously the feeling after the game doesn’t reflect how well we played.
“And everyone is excited for the next game, we are looking forward to it, the City game is gone now, and let’s go for tomorrow.”
