Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly offered Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba a short-term deal as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.
Mothiba is currently a free agent after leaving French side Strasbourg SC and is still searching for a new club after failing to agree a deal with Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad AC, having trained with the team.
The 28-year-old was then spotted at Sundowns’ Chloorkop base on Sunday, fueling speculation over a potential deal, and now, FARPost reports that the PSL champions have decided to offer him a six-month contract.
Can the Bafana ace help Sundowns?

Sundowns view the player as another attacking weapon that can help them navigate through the rest of the season with PSL, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup matches to play.
If indeed Sundowns seal the deal with the player, then he would make a sensational return to the club and also fulfill his desires of playing for the Brazilians before he retires.
The striker played at Sundowns during the formative years of his career before moving to France where he developed further at Lille.
“Before I retire, I want to come and play back home. In the future, I’d love to come and play for two or three years in South Africa. I’ve spoken to my agent, and everyone agrees. That’s what I’ll do,” Mothiba told FARPost in December.
Mothiba has friends at Chloorkop

“You know my team there in South Africa, where my development took place, that’s Sundowns. I watch almost every game they play because most of my close friends are at Sundowns.
“My other friend left [Orlando] Pirates, and he’s now there at Sundowns. I’m so close to most of them – Grant Kekana, Teboho [Mokoena] and the legend himself – the great Shikabala. Themba Zwane. That one knows football,” he added.
It is not clear what a deal for Mothiba would mean for Peter Shalulile, who has struggled for playing time this season, and is reported to be looking for a way out in the January transfer window.
