The central midfielder has broken his silence since his release from Naturena

Midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has broken his silence following his release from Kaizer Chiefs.

Sithebe was among four players let go by Chiefs following the end of their contracts as the club looks to freshen up things ahead of next season after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign.

Sithebe, who joined Chiefs from AmaZulu in 2022, looked at the positives during his spell at Naturena where he made 39 appearances across all competitions.

‘My hands are above my head’

“I’m giving thanks to the Khosi nation for the time I got playing for them, my hands are above my head,” he posted on Instagram. “Wish you the best season and in future.”

Sithebe joined Keagan Dolly, S'fiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo out the exit door at Chiefs as the Glamour Boys creates room for new additions under incoming Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The 31-year-old arrived at Chiefs with a lot of expectations but did not impress during his two-year stay.

Sithebe fell down the pecking order at Chiefs

Sithebe was a key player under former Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane who made him one of the undroppables in midfield in 2022-23 but he fell down the pecking order last season.

He made 11 appearances, starting 10 matches, in 2023-24 but the club hierarchy did not deem him good enough to extend his stay.

Chiefs are expected to be busy I'm the market once Nabi is installed with all areas set to be strengthened by relatively young players.
