Modise on Nedbank Cup semifinalist – ‘They might surprise everyone’

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise has insisted Kaizer Chiefs could still surprise many in the Nedbank Cup this season.

Amakhosi secured their spot in the semifinal after victories over Stellenbosch [quarterfinal], Chippa United [Round of 16], and Free Agents [Round of 32].

Chiefs have been pitted against the winner of the postponed clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United.

That match is going to be played on Friday, 8 March after the international break.

Modise believes the Phefeni Glamour Boys have the potential to go all the way and lift the trophy this season, ending their long wait for silverware.

He stated that a Nedbank Cup triumph for Chiefs would shake things up in South African football.

MODISE BELIEVES CHIEFS CAN WIN NEDBANK CUP THIS SEASON

“Yes please! We need them to win a trophy this season,” said Modise as quoted by iDiski Times.

‘The General’ feels no one expects the Nasreddine Nabi-led side to go far in the competition due to their struggles.

He firmly believes that Chiefs have the potential to cause major upsets and shock everyone by reaching the final and winning the tournament.

“Look, no one expects them to go far, which is exactly why they might just surprise everyone. We need someone to shake things up.”
