Mokwena to beat Sundowns, Pirates & Chiefs to Aziz Ki services? Gamondi confirms contact

The Ivory Coast-born Burkinabe is a wanted man owing to his exploits in domestic and continental assignments.

Young African SC dangerman Stephane Aziz Ki has been a target for many teams across the continent.

The versatile attacker has been a menace against teams not only in the Tanzanian Premier League but in Africa as well.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Ki was a key player as Wananchi won all the domestic competitions and reached the Caf Confederation Cup final where they lost to USM Alger. Just last season, the Burkina Faso international was again at it, as his team was controversially eliminated from the Caf Champions League quarter-final stage by Mamelodi Sundowns.

After that game, the then-Masandawana coach Rulani Mokwena was captured having a word with the bulky attacker.

Mokwena now wants Ki!

In a recent interview, the Yanga SC striker conceded Premier Soccer League teams have already contacted him. Apart from Masandawana, Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were linked with the 28-year-old.

Ki insisted he is part of the Wananchi project and is determined to see it through. His sentiments have been echoed by his coach Miguel Gamondi who revealed Mokwena wants his star player at Wydad Athletic Club, but he was told off.

“It’s true Wydad made an offer [but] Stephane Aziz Ki is committed to our project,” Gamondi told the media.

“You know he cannot move anywhere. Aziz is a fantastic player; he knows he needs to be in the right place as well this season where you can develop your capacity.

But for me, [there is] no way he can go; we are so quiet we work in silence and make the player happy.”

Ki was on target twice as Yanga SC beat Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 on Sunday, July 28 to win the inaugural Toyota Cup.
