Themba Zwane has been out of action since October 2024 after sustaining an Achilles injury while on duty for Bafana Bafana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away against Congo Brazzaville.
The 35-year-old has been vital for both Mamelodi Sundowns and the South Africa National team. Mshishi, as he is commonly known, joined Sundowns from an amateur outfit Vardos FC before establishing himself as a key player for the team.
He has since won the Premier Soccer League title seven times, and other four domestic titles. Zwane was also part of the team that won the maiden Caf Champions League, the Caf Super Cup and the African Football League.
Prior to his injury, the veteran midfielder was in fine form for both the club and Bafana Bafana.
Give Zwane a new deal!

Former Masandawana forward Katlego Mashego believes Zwane – whose contract expires at the end of the season, deserves a new deal. He has, however, urged the club to start looking for his replacement.
“We all know what he has done for the club, and there’s still more that he can do. The club needs to think carefully about ‘Mshishi’,” he told Far Post.
“But we should be aware that he’s not getting any younger. That’s what they should consider, but he’s a great asset for the club. But it shouldn’t be a tough decision for Sundowns to give him that extension; he deserves it.
“He has been at the club for too long, through good and tough times. I think those are the types of elements that should be put into consideration when the two parties are negotiating a new deal.”
