Orlando Pirates take on Cape Town City while Sundowns face Stellenbosch in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinals and here are the tie breaker rules.

Pirates and Cape Town City played to a 1-all draw away from home in the first leg, while Sundowns lost 1-0 at home to Stellenbosch FC.

MTN8 Tie Breaker Rules – No Extra Time

6.4. Both semi-final ties will consist of two legs played on a home and away basis. Thecclub which scores a higher aggregate number of goals in the two (2) matches of each semi-final tie will qualify for the final.


6.4.1. If after the end of regular time of the second match of each tie, the two clubs have scored the same number of goals during the two matches, the club which will have scored the greater number of away goals will qualify for the final.


6.4.2. If the number of away goals is also the same the winner of the tie will be determined by the taking of penalty kicks according to the Laws of the Game. There will be no extra time.

The winner will progress to the final.
A 1-1 draw will see a penalty shoot-out required to decide a winner.
A 0-0 draw will send Orlando Pirates through to the final on away goals.
A draw above 1-1 e.g. 2-2, 4-4 will send Cape Town City through on away goals.

A win for Sundowns by a single goal margin above 1-0 e.g. 2-1, 3-2 will see them progress on away goals.
