The tactician has asked for patience with his team after struggling to hold onto their big lead

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is calling for patience from the club’s supporters after his team nearly saw their 3-0 lead wiped off before surviving to win 3-1 against AmaZulu.

Chiefs turned on the style in the first half and were 3-0 ahead inside 23 minutes thanks to goals from Ranga Chivaviro, Gaston Sirino and Inacio Miguel but AmaZulu improved in the second half, grabbing a 47th minute goal from Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro, before the striker missed a number of great chances.

After watching the good and bad side of his side, Nabi was full of praise for Usuthu but urged Chiefs fans to look at the positives as his team are still in the very early stages of their construction and still needs time.

Why is Nasreddine Nabi calling for patience?

“We need to pay tribute to AmaZulu, the whole team and coach,” Nabi told SuperSport TV after the match.

“The first half was very good but in the second half they scored a very quick goal which was hard to maintain a score of 3-1 but we still have very many things to build on but it is still a positive result for us.

“We are still learning and keeping our bases, we have a lot of things to build on. We are still very much in the construction phase. We need some time to build on this because it is just the second match.”

Chiefs’ next game will put them to a major test

Chiefs had a quick start as they forced AmaZulu into mistakes which they capitalised on especially for their first and third goals.

Nabi will hope that his teams can address some of the issues that they need to work on before Saturday’s meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns which will put them to a great test.
