Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that he has had to work a lot on the game of young midfielder Samkelo Zwane to improve his levels of performance.
Zwane, son of legendary Eugene Zwane, featured in Chiefs’ opening game of the season against Marumo Gallants but was not involved again until last weekend’s Carling Knockout Round of 16 tie against SuperSport United, which the Glamour Boys won 4-0.
He put in an impressive performance that left his coach delighted and the Tunisian tactician has now revealed that he had to work on a number of aspects of the midfielder’s game to get him up to speed with his demands.

How did Nabi work on Zwane’s game?
“It's true that Samkelo Zwane has worked a lot in the past few months, and we believe that he has changed especially because (in the past), there were some tactical issues as well as concentration because he's still young,” said Nabi.
“Sometimes, he would want to do unnecessary things, but we believe that it's through games like that [against SuperSport United] that our youngsters are going to grow.
“It's not only him; it's [Mduduzi] Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi. We believe that it's a capital investment for the club to have those players coming from the academy, and we need to show that all those are going to have a chance if they prove themselves.
Chiefs coach has put faith in youth

“They still have a big margin to progress, and we haven't seen the better of them yet, but we believe that in future, we will see the better of them.”
Nabi has trusted youngsters at the club since his arrival in July with Shabalala and Vilakazi being regulars and the youngsters have repaid the faith with goals and assists for the Soweto giants.
The tactician will be expecting the same from Zwane, who now seems ready to claim a starting place in midfield, following his good showing at the weekend.
