Nabi explains what his new assistant coach Kaze is bringing to Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is counting on the experience of newly-appointed assistant coach Cedric Kaze to improve his team.

Kaze reunited with Nabi at Chiefs after the two worked together to good effect at Tanzanian champions Yanga for two years, replacing Fernando Da Cruz, who left less than three months into his job, to link up with the Moroccan federation.

His appointment was another show of faith in Nabi by the Chiefs hierarchy who has allowed him to appoint his men on the technical bench and the veteran coach has confidence that the 45-year-old Burundian will be a huge success at Naturena.

Why is Nabi thrilled to work with Cedric Kaze?

“This is my brother, Mr Cedric Kaze is my second assistant. We worked together at Young Africans, we won a lot with Young Africans,” Nabi told the media, as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Many good moments, sometimes bad moments. He’s a good guy, very experienced.

“Thank You very much Mr Kaizer [Motaung] Jr and Mr Bobby [Motaung] for giving me this opportunity for the coming for Mr Cedric Kaze.

“I’m very happy. He's a very good guy, gentleman and very good coach. I’m very happy for that.”

Kaze worked with Nabi during his two-year spell at Tanzanian champions Yanga where they won back-to-back league titles and also reached the final of the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Burundian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, CAF A licence, as well as a German Football Federation A licence and was named coach of the year for East and Central Africa in 2012.

He is now the second assistant behind Khalil Ben Youssef with reports saying that he will also help with communication as his English is more polished compared to that of his boss, who has had to use a translator sometimes to pass his message to his players and at press conferences.
