Nabi on why Kaizer Chiefs ace Pule Mmodi needs support

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is delighted by the mentality of Pule Mmodi whom he feels needs a lot of support to maintain a high level.

Mmodi had a glorious chance to put Chiefs ahead in the Soweto derby on Saturday when he got in on goal but failed to find the target as Sipho Chaine made a great save, letting Orlando Pirates off the hook.

The Glamour Boys would later rue that missed chance as Relebohile Mofokeng won a last-minute penalty, with Patrick Maswanganyi stepping up to score via a panenka.

However, Nabi feels the player has shown great character and mentality and should e lauded as he will be key for the team for the rest of the season.

Why should Mmodi be supported?

“Mmodi, it’s true he missed an opportunity and that’s part of the game, but we need to congratulate him because after that, his mentality was very good,” said Nabi as per iDiski Times.

“He made a lot of runs, he helped the team defensively, offensively, he was one of the best players on the pitch. He didn’t put his head down, the opportunity that he missed and that’s part of football, we need to encourage him.”

Pule Mmodi, South Africa

Mmodi has sprung into prominence in recent matches for Chiefs and scored twice when Amakhosi thrashed Free Agents 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup last month with his pace on the wing and playmaking abilities adding an attacking threat to their game.

The attacker will hope to put all that behind and lead Chiefs to victory when they host AmaZulu in their next PSL game on Tuesday.
