The Tunisian is happy with the way he has been welcomed by the South African outfit ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs fans are desperate to celebrate any form of success with the players after going nine years without a trophy.

Last season, it got worse for the Glamour Boys; after missing out on staging any serious challenge in domestic tournaments, the team finished 10th in the Premier Soccer League and missed out on qualifying for the 2024/25 MTN8.

Massive changes have been made especially in the technical team, with Nasreddine Nabi taking over. The supporters believe the Tunisian will, finally, restore the lost glory owing to his recent record at Yanga SC and AS FAR Rabat.

The 58-year-old has further explained why it was important to have pre-season outside South Africa.

“I would like to thank the owner of the club, Mr. Kaizer Motaung, Jessica… for their warm welcome. I would also like to thank all Kaizer Chiefs fans for their warm welcome at the airport and I’ll do my best to reward them for the warm welcome with a great season this year,” Nabi told the media.

“‘The pre-season] was very successful, it was also very important to get away from Johannesburg, from the pressure, especially after the way the season ended. It was also important for the new staff to meet the players and adjust together. It was very successful.

“[The friendly games we played] weren’t to ease expectations… as the time goes in this month, the pace will pick up and it will be what I want out of them.”

Kaizer Chiefs start the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season with an interesting fixture away against Marumo Gallants. Amakhosi striker Ranga Chivaviro will be coming up against his former team for the first time since joining the Soweto giants.
