Nabi shares details of management talks on when Chiefs will compete for trophies

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed details of conversations held with the club's management on when the team will be ready for trophy contention.

Expectations were high when the former Young Africans coach took charge of Chiefs at the season's outset, aiming to reverse the club's fortunes.

However, after a brief period of a good start, the team's form deteriorated as time went on.

Under his leadership, the Phefeni Glamour Boys have recorded 10 wins, 11 losses, and 6 draws across 27 matches, placing them eighth in the league with 30 points from 24 fixtures.

NABI ON WHEN CHIEFS WILL BE READY TO COMPETE FOR A TROPHY

“This is our first year [at Chiefs] and we’re trying to build our team but when we get an opportunity like this one, we’re in the semifinal and we can win the trophy, we can try do that for the fans and board,” said Nabi as quoted by FARPost.

“So, we will always play to win a trophy because we are in a big team like Kaizer Chiefs. So, every season, and every competition you play, you have to try to win.

“I think when we discussed with the board, we said we are in the process of two to three years to build our team but after that, then we can play for the African Cup, league or every competition to win.

“But for now we are in the process as I said. But if we get an opportunity to win the trophy, we will play to win it and if we do that, it will be amazing for us. It would give us more confidence to play for the board, fans, team and for us coaches.

“If we don’t win it, we have to continue to work.”
