Kaizer Chiefs’ win over Mamelodi Sundowns saw them make it to a cup final for the first time since 2019 and it keeps alive their hopes of ending a 10-year wait for a trophy.
Chiefs came from behind to score two second-half goals with Wandile Duba cancelling out Teboho Mokoena’s strike before Ashley Du Preez stole it at the death to set up a Soweto Derby final against Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on May 10.
Victory secured continental football qualification for next season and it also saw the Glamour Boys and their coach Nasreddine Nabi set some new milestones.
Which milestones have Kaizer Chiefs achieved?

Following their 2-1 win against Sundowns, Chiefs have now scored 12 goals, the most by any team in the Nedbank Cup this season. The last time they had more goals leading up to the final of this competition was in 1998-99, when they netted 13.
With Amakhosi coming from a goal down to win, it became the first time Chiefs had won a game they were trailing at half-time this season, having lost five and drawn two of the seven in which they found themselves behind at the break in all competitions prior to Sunday’s match.
Meanwhile, coach Nabi has now reached a domestic cup final for a fifth consecutive season. The veteran Tunisian tactician previously led Yanga to three Tanzanian Cup finals, guided AS FAR to the Moroccan Throne Cup final last season and is now in the Nedbank Cup final in South Africa with Chiefs.
