Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Ngezana has revealed how he escaped a €15,000 (R290,000) fine from his Romanian club FCSB following his wedding last month.
Ngezana tied the knot with his sweetheart Mbali Malindi in a private ceremony in December but it has turned out that the wedding nearly cost him money at his workstation.
The defender was among four FCSB players who arrived late at his team’s camp in Antalya, Turkey with the club’s General Manager Mihai Stoica promising to fine each of them €15,000 (R290,000) for arriving late.
Why did Bafana defender escape fine?

However, Ngezana has revealed that he was spared the punishment once it was known that his late arrival was due to his wedding unlike the other players.
“I got married last December and it was great. We got married at home, in the traditional style and it was great. I didn't get any fines from the club. They understood my situation, which was that I got married, and I didn't get anything,” Ngezana told Romanian outlet Fanatik.
The defender also weighed on the transfer speculation that has linked him with English club Birmingham City and Italian side Lecce.
Ngezana responds to transfer speculation

“Right now, I'm focusing on the team I'm with and I'm not thinking about any transfers. I can't talk about something that's not concrete, and my thoughts are only on FCSB, which I want to help win,” he added.
“It is even possible that we will reach the Europa League final, as my colleagues said, because nothing is impossible, especially when you believe in something. It will be possible if we work together.”
The defender has made 23 appearances for FCSB this season while scoring one goal and is set to return to Europa League action on Thursday when they face Qarabag FK.
