The PSL has confirmed where the decisive cup match will be played
Orlando Pirates will face Stellenbosch FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the MTN8 final, being the fifth consecutive time that the decisive match will be played in Durban.
The final will be played on October 5 with both Pirates and Stellenbosch set to return to a stadium that holds good memories for them.
Pirates have won the last two MTN8 crowns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, and are looking for a historic third straight crown, while Stellenbosch won the Carling Knockout Cup at the same venue, when they beat TS Galaxy last December.
Why was Moses Mabhida chosen yet again?
“The highly anticipated MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC will take place on Saturday, 05 October 2024 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban,” the PSL said via a statement.
“The hosting rights for the 2024/25 MTN8 final attracted widespread interest, with proposals submitted by various provinces, including Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu- Natal, and Mpumalanga.
“After an evaluation by the PSL Executive Committee during a special EXCO meeting this afternoon [Wednesday], and taking into consideration the input from the sponsor, the rights were awarded to the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
“Further details regarding kick-off time, ticketing, and other logistical arrangements will be announced by the PSL in due course.

Home & away draw set for September 16
“The official home-and-away draw for the final will be conducted on Monday, 16 September 2024 on the popular TV sports show, Extra-Time, LIVE on SuperSport PSL Channel (202) at 20h30.”
The stadium has become popular for cup finals due to its ability to attract many fans and there is hope that it will be full yet again as Jose Riveiro’s men seek to defend their title.
Pirates made it to the final after a 3-1 aggregate win over Cape Town City while Stellenbosch eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 across two legs in the semi-final.
