Bafana Bafana and Al Ahly star Percy Tau has addressed the speculation surrounding his potential move to South African powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs while providing an update on his status with the Egyptian club.
Recently, Tau has been the subject of intense speculation regarding his possible departure from the Club of the Century, following an alleged fall-out with Marcel Koller, who reportedly has expressed his desire not to include Tau in his plans for the upcoming season.
As a result, Amakhosi were said to have jumped on the opportunity to try and land the 30-year-old left-footer’s signature ahead of the transfer window closure.
Reports coming from Egypt suggested that the Soweto giants had begun talks with the player.
Tau admitted he has seen rumours about possible transfer to Kaizer Chiefs, however, he firmly stated that neither he nor his representatives are engaged in negotiations with any club.
Despite the claims of a strained relationship with Koller, Tau maintains that he is content at Al Ahly, reiterating that all such reports are merely “rumours.”
IS TAU IN TALKS WITH CHIEFS? WHAT ABOUT FALL-OUT WITH AL AHLY COACH?
“No, no one. We are not talking to anyone. I have seen the rumours that there is an opportunity for me at Kaizer Chiefs, Wydad and in Saudi Arabia. Some are even saying Tanzania. So I am just looking because they are just rumours.”
“I am happy at the club. The club is happy with me. Al Ahly is a big club so there will always be reports about every individual. That’s what you have seen there was no official report from the club or myself because we felt these were just rumours.

“The whole reporting that has been happening is not true. When I arrived there they were reporting about having a chronic injury and I don’t know where that comes from. So there has always been such reporting.”
Tau added that he has yet to find out whether there will be a new contract for him with his current one ending next year in June.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the talks about his future will begin soon.
WILL AL AHLY OFFER PERCY TAU A NEW CONTRACT?
“When I left the club everyone was just happy to say, go on a break. We are all going on a break, enjoy your time back home,” added Tau.
“Just follow the program, train whenever you can and that’s where we are at. I know my manager spoke to the sporting [director] there and we will see what happens if there is a new contract or if there is no new contract.
“I am not worried, all I wanted was to get a break. We still have enough time to talk about the contract. We have a year right now. But it’s going to be difficult because we have to speak in these six months.”
