South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos has announced a final squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin later this month.
Bafana Bafana are scheduled to host Lesotho at Peter Mokaba Stadium on March 21st before embarking on a trip to Benin.
Following four matchdays, South Africa currently occupy the second position in Group C, level on seven points with Benin, who sit third. Rwanda leads the group on goal difference, also with seven points.
Lesotho remains within striking distance with five points, while Nigeria and Zimbabwe occupy the bottom positions with three and two points respectively.
The final tournament for the FIFA 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
THE RETURN OF PERCY TAU AND LYLE FOSTER
The Belgian tactician included Percy Tau who was last in the Bafana team in June last year in the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
The 30-year-old attacker has experienced decline in the past two seasons when he was at Al Ahly before moving to Qatar SC in January this year. However, Broos has reiterated his belief on the former Brighton and Hove Albion star.
Meanwhile, Foster missed some action towards the end of the year 2025 due to an injury he sustained during Bafana’s AFCON qualifier against Congo Brazzaville. He couldn’t play the return tie against Les Diables Rouges.
