Pirates’ Mabasa warns bullish Ramoreboli: It won’t be as you expect

The 27-year-old forward has vowed the Buccaneers will give their best when they meet their opponent this weekend in the international assignment.

Orlando Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa has warned the Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli that it would not be easy against Bucs in the forthcoming meeting.

The Buccaneers will play the Batswana outfit on Saturday at the Botswana National Stadium in the first leg of the Caf Champions League second preliminary round.

Last season, Bucs were knocked out of the competition by Galaxy and the Sea Robbers hope to avenge the loss.

‘It won't be as expected' – Mabasa warns

Ramoreboli has coached some of the players at Pirates in their early stages including Mabasa. It explains why he fancies his chances of eliminating the Premier Soccer League side. However, the towering striker insists it won't be as easy as he thinks.

“Yes I had the opportunity to work with coach Morena from development at Celtic. I also worked with him in the Cosafa [Cup] team last year as well,” the 27-year-old said in a presser.

“He’s a coach that I know quite well and obviously he knows me as a player. But this is a completely different phase. I have grown as a player, there are a lot more tactics involved. The game won’t be the way that you expect.

“You can study all you want but what happens on the day it’s entirely up to the player himself and the tactics on the day.”

The 27-year-old has promised Bucs will give their all on Saturday, “So, we’re not really worried about that. We will go out there and give it our all.”

He has further stated Galaxy are reaping their reward for trusting Ramoreboli, “Coach Morena is not anyone I’ve doubted before, I’ve always believed that he’s a good coach.

“He just needed to be given an opportunity. I think Jwaneng did that and they’re reaping the rewards of his hard work.”
