Mosimane was part of South Africa's technical staff during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the group stage.
Following his appointment as head coach of Bafana Bafana, his time in charge was brief, resulting in six wins, seven draws, and three losses across 16 matches.
Nevertheless, his true capabilities were fully realised at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he transformed the club into a dominant force in African football.
His success continued with Al Ahly in Egypt and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia after his departure from Sundowns. He also spearheaded UAE side Al Wahda and Abha Club (Saudi Arabia) before becoming a free agent.
Mosimane also had a spell with Iranian professional football club Esteghlal FC where he spent less than four months at the club before he departed due to unpaid salaries.

They outlined their efforts to engage with the club, including discussions with the former CEO last year and a formal default notice sent on January 1, 2025, but the club has failed to settle the outstanding payments.
