‘Prayer-warrior’ Morris ‘Wasted his talent in Mzansi!’ – Striker tipped to shine at Chiefs

Sekhukhune United Sporting Director Macdonald Makhubedu insists Tashreeq Morris will deliver once his publicized move to Kaizer Chiefs is made official.

The 30-year-old is set to help the Soweto giants take their chances in front of the goal after struggles by Ashley du Preez, Ranga Chivaviro, and Christian Saile who is set to replace Morris at SuperSport United.

While at SuperSport, Morris played 10 games across all competitions with a return of just two goals. However, Sekhukhune United Sporting Director Macdonald Makhubedo insists that says nothing about the towering striker.

The administrator insists Morris has all the necessary characteristics needed to be a hit once he gets a chance at Amakhosi.

Morris is tactically superior

“I signed Morris for Sekhukhune United. He is one of the most underrated players in South Africa, yet very few possess the talent he has,” he told Kick Off

“I once told him that he was wasting his talent in South Africa, he could have easily made it overseas. He is strong in the air, has a powerful shot with both feet, and is well-developed. He is one of the greatest finishers you'll find.

“He also has a high work rate, he can press defenders and disrupt build-ups. Tactically, he is very superior. Now we will see the best of him. The reason he hasn't been scoring a lot is that he is a hardworking player. He works for the team, not just for himself. At Sekhukhune, there was stiff competition, [Chibuike] Ohizu and Vusi Ncube were scoring left and right. He joined us when those two players were in top form,” Makhubedu added.

“But at Kaizer Chiefs, he will have a significant impact, with him, you can expect three shots at goal in each match. He is also very disciplined and is a man of God. Chiefs have found themselves a prayer warrior. He will pray for everyone.”
