Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau made his debut for Qatar SC in the worst way possible after a humiliating 5-1 loss against Al Nasr in the Qatar-UAE Super Cup game played at the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai on Friday evening,
The Lion of Judah had just joined the King a couple of days ago from Egyptian champions Al Ahly after a reported fallout with coach Marcel Koller. He joined the Qatari outfit hoping to help them rediscover their mojo after a poor start that has put them in the relegation zone.
The first assignment was in the Cup competition against the United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr. Tau was included in the starting with coach Youssef Safri hoping he would influence his teammates to deliver.
“Everyone knows his importance and capabilities, and he does not need to adapt, especially since he plays among distinguished players, such as Javi Martinez and Badr Banoun. This is the best time to sign a player like Percy, he is a big name and will have an impact [on Friday],” he said prior to the match.
Tau unable to save the King

The hosts took just 13 minutes to get their first goal as Ali Mabkhout was set up by Manolo Gabbiadini. In the added minutes of the first half, Al Nasr made it 2-0 when the provider became the scorer after nice work had been done by Adel Taarabt.
Mabkhout completed his brace with 20 minutes to go after finishing off a pass by Ivorian Abdoulaye Toure.
The visitors reduced the deficit five minutes later when Badr Banoun assisted Ben Malango, but that turned out to be a mere consolation.
Toure struck in the 81st minute before Abdulla Jashak's 88th-minute penalty sealed the deal.
Tau and his team will be hoping for a better outing when they play Al Nasr on Thursday in the Qatar Stars League.
