A second-team team Mpheni Home Defenders head coach Sidwell Phuravhavhu has expressed a desire to face either Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup last 16 round.
Mpheni previously took part in the tournament in 2023, where they were eliminated by Chippa United in the same stage.
Having failed to qualify in the past year, Mpheni have made a resounding return to the Nedbank Cup, achieving a decisive 3-1 victory over Hungry Lions FC, a team from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, at a capacity crowd in Thohoyandou Stadium.

Phuravhavhu unequivocally stated his preference for a draw against either Chiefs or Pirates, further emphasizing his desire for the fixture to be hosted at Thohoyandou Stadium to enable their supporters to witness the match in person.
