Kaizer Chiefs are into the Carling Knockout quarter-final following a convincing 4-0 win over SuperSport United on Saturday evening.
Amakhosi were desperate to get back to winning ways after a controversial loss in the Premier Soccer League outing against Mamelodi Sundowns on September 28.
However, it was the Swanky Boys, who have been inconsistent this season, who dominated early proceedings at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Sirino factor crucial for Kaizer Chiefs
Former Masandawana attacker Gaston Sirino was confirmed fit and ready to start the game against SuperSport.
The South American was at the center of good moves by the Soweto Giants; in the 28th minute, his pass to the advancing Reeve Frosler ended with the ball on Wandile Duba's feet. Somehow, the youngster failed to find the target from six yards, as his strike came off the crossbar and Ricardo Goss secured the ball.
In the 32nd minute, the Glamour Boys were saved by the woodwork after Tashreeq Morris managed to head a good corner ball.
A minute later, Matsatsantsa paid for the miss; a good ball from Mduduzi Shabalala was collected by Sirino who fooled the defenders with an unpredictable run before finding the bottom right to hand his team a deserved lead.
It could have been 2-0 in the 45th minute, but Ranga Chivaviro missed the target after being slipped through by Shabalala, putting him in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.
Maart, Chivaviro and Du Preez finish the job for Chiefs
Amakhosi needed seven minutes after the pause to get their second goal. They pushed their opponent to concede a corner which was taken by Sirino. Captain Yusuf Maart then rose highest to head the ball home.
Chivaviro missed another chance to further extend the Glamour Boys' lead when he headed Duba's cross wide in the 60th minute.
In the 70th minute, Lyle Lakay was let loose just outside the danger zone. He took his time before unleashing a good strike but Ntwari was equal to the task.
Former Marumo Gallants striker Chivaviro then got his name on the scoresheet seven minutes later, when he received a good ball from Duba, and composed himself before burying it past hapless Goss.
It got worse for the hosts when Gape Moralo was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, but the damage had already been done.
Substitutes Edson Castillo and Ashley du Preez combined in the final minute of the game, with the latter scoring to make it 4-0.
