Stanley Nwabali given transfer advice amid Kaizer Chiefs interest

Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been advised to stay focused on his club duties and not worry about where is playing.

Nwabali has been a subject of transfer interest from a number of teams, with Chiefs heavily linked at the end of last season, before he was handed a new contract and made captain at the club.

However, the rumours have never died down and with Chiefs reportedly looking for a new goalkeeper, Nwabali is set to make headlines yet again in the coming months.

Orlando Pirates legend Williams Okpara, however, feels the Nigeria first-choice goalkeeper should not be distracted by talk of where he is playing.

“I believe he is happy where is and no one has offered him better than what he is getting at Chippa,” Okpara told KickOff.

“Nwabali’s plan when he came here was to get a club and he got Chippa. I don't know how much he is getting there. If he is being treated well at Chippa, and he is happy there, then that is what matters.

“He is performing at Chippa good enough to be recognised in Nigeria, so it shows how good he is. Any club that wants him will have to buy him for whatever money his club wants.”

Okpara feels the goalkeeper is best playing where his talents are appreciated as not every player in Europe is having a good time.

Will Nwabali keep Chiefs at bay?

“Some of our Super Eagles players are in Europe but not regulars there, but Stanley is playing his best football at Chippa, so I don’t have any issues,” he added.

“He is performing. You don’t have to rate a player based on the club that he is playing for. I don’t judge a player on the club he plays for but how he performs where he is.

“Whether he plays for Chippa or Real Madrid makes no difference if he is performing for the Super Eagles. Let us forget about the name of the club.”

Nwabali has a chance to show Chiefs what they are missing, or perhaps what they will get, when his Chippa host the Glamour Boys in a PSL match on Saturday.
