Stellenbosch continue to make continental football history after eliminating holders Zamalek to make it to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final.
Steve Barker’s side secured a 1-0 win away to the Egyptian giants in the quarter-final second leg on Wednesday when Sihle Nduli scored in the 80th minute for the South African side and they protected their lead to sail through 1-0 on aggregate.
Stellies had forced a goalless draw in South Africa last week and travelled to Egypt looking for a victory that would take them to a first-ever semi-final in continental football competition.
They got just that when Nduli struck the vital goal with 10 minutes to go as they went on to deny their illustrious hosts a chance to retain their title.
Who will Stellies face in the semis?
Just like in the first leg, chances were few and far between the two sides with Lesiba Nku trying in the 51st minute when he let loose from range but his shot went straight to the opposition goalkeeper.
Following the victory, Stellenbosch have now set up an exciting semi-final date with Tanzanian giants Simba, who are coached by South African coach Fadlu Davids.
Simba eliminated Egyptian side Al Masry 4-2 on post-match penalties on Wednesday after both sides had played out a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
