‘Sundowns don’t scare me, Chiefs will beat them in CKO quarter-final’ – Amakhosi legend

Kaizer Chiefs will host Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout quarter-final fixture on a yet-to-be identified date.

It will be the second time this season the two teams will be meeting in Mzansi's domestic assignments after the Premier Soccer League outing that was played on September 28 in the FNB Stadium.

The defending champions controversially won the game 2-1 despite a spirited fight by the Glamour Boys.

Former Amakhosi defender Gardner Seale is convinced Masandawana will not eliminate the Soweto giants from the annual competition.

“This time it's not going to be about who you are, I think those days are gone. It's going to be about who wants it the most,” he told SNL24.

“I think it's the first time I beat SuperSport United with more than three goals… I stand to be corrected. So, Sundowns doesn't scare me. This thing of people saying Sundowns will end Chiefs' dream of winning the trophy, doesn't make sense.

“I'm 99.9% sure Kaizer Chiefs will beat Sundowns in the quarterfinal. I watched the boys on Saturday, and compared to all these interim coaches, now [under Nasreddine Nabi] the boys play with confidence and purpose.

“This shouldn't be about revenge though. They can beat us again. As I have mentioned, it's going to be about who wants it the most. It should be about showing that as Chiefs we are capable of turning things around. It's not about revenge. What is revenge in football?”

Downs have won their last four games across all competitions, while Amakhosi have managed three wins and lost just one this season.
