Sundowns star unveiled in Europe, replacement signed by Cardoso

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck has finally sealed his move to Israeli top-tier side Maccabi Petah Tikva.

The 29-year-old has been struggling for game time at Masandawana in the ongoing campaign, explaining why he chose to walk away. De Reuck has featured just six times – five in the Premier Soccer League and once in the Caf Champions League.

“We hold on to players because we feel at times that maybe we are not able to find solutions for them in the PSL, not because we don’t care,” Masandawana coach Miguel Cardoso said prior to De Reuck's exit.

“You will see that in the coming months we will work at resolving this and even maybe move some of them to Europe so they can market the club.”

“The strongest rock in the blue nature from now,” Maccabi Petah Tikva confirmed the deal.

“The South-African brake Rushin De Reuck signed with the team until the end of the season. The Brake will wear shirt number 3. Welcome De Reuck!”

The Bafana Bafana defender has been given a chance to prove his worth for all those who are doubting his abilities. If all goes well, he might be part of the Downs team that will play the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup or even in the Hugo Broos squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

But first, he has to work harder and help his team get off the relegation zone.

“The deal has been done; Keanu obviously is a great player that looks to bigger challenges for himself. He deserves that,” he stated.

“I think we are good in the defensive line so we still have one youngster [Alifeyo] Ziba he needs also a chance. I was thinking maybe today to give him a chance but Ziba is also a very interesting player.”
