SuperSport United vs Kaizer Chiefs: Preview, team news & where to watch

After missing out on the MTN8 tournament by virtue of failing to qualify, Kaizer Chiefs have a chance to show their quality on Saturday when they play SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The two teams will be meeting in the initial Round of 16 hoping to deliver after falling in the same stage in the last edition.

The Swanky Boys were eliminated by Polokwane City while the Glamour Boys were defeated by AmaZulu.

The two teams have not played in Cup competitions in the last five meetings; all have been in the Premier Soccer League.

SuperSport have managed to get three wins with Chiefs taking the remaining two which will make this weekend's clash even more interesting.

Form Guide

SuperSport United has played five games in the 2024/25 campaign across all competitions. Eventual champions Orlando Pirates eliminated them from the MTN8. The Swanky Boys have since played four PSL matches and managed a win, a draw, and two losses.

Kaizer Chiefs have played three PSL games in the new campaign. The Nasreddine Nabi-led team has won two and lost one.

Team News

Coach Nasreddine Nabi confirmed Gaston Sirino is back for Kaizer Chiefs and is ready for the game. Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is another player who has healed after suffering a finger injury. 

George Matlou is not yet ready the same as Tebogo Potsane. Edmilson Dove is out of the protective boot and is doing some preliminary walking.

It is not yet clear whether SuperSport United attacker Vincent Pule who joined the team from Orlando Pirates will be ready for the fixture.

The match is set to take place on Saturday, 19 October at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane from 20.00hrs.
