The Cairo Red Devils' boss has lauded the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss
Al Ahly President Mahmoud El Khatib is among those who have congratulated Pitso Mosimane for his impending award of a Doctorate by the University of Johannesburg.
Mosimane will be awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree for his service to football on July 24 and he had invited El Khatib for his big day.
However, the Al Ahly boss will not be able to attend due to medical reasons but has praised Jingles for the honour.
Mosimane described as one of Africa’s most distinguished coaches
“El Khatib congratulates Mosimane on his honorary doctorate. Our president received a generous invitation from Pitso Mosimane, former manager of Al Ahly, to attend a ceremony, honouring the South African coach and awarding him an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg on 24 July in recognition of his successful football career,” Al Ahly said via a statement.
“Mosimane, in his invitation, emphasised the strong bond he shares with El Khatib and expressed hope for his presence at the prestigious occasion.
“El Khatib expressed his gratitude to the invitation and his deep appreciation for Mosimane as one of Africa’s most distinguished coaches.
Pitso will join an exclusive list of honorary Doctorate recipients
“El Khatib wished he could travel to South Africa to celebrate the occasion with Mosimane, but he will not be able to attend the ceremony as he will be away on a medical journey.”
Mosimane had two successful years at Al Ahly between 2020 and 2022 when he won two CAF Champions League crowns before quitting to join Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli Jeddah.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach also won five PSL titles with the Brazilians and will join other South African football greats such as Jomo Sono, Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza and his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Dr Kaizer Motaung as among those to have earned the honorary Doctorate Degree.
