Amakhosi have announced who they will face in their pre-season friendly
Nasreddine Nabi’s first official match as Kaizer Chiefs coach will be against Qatari opposition this weekend.
Chiefs have confirmed that they will take on newly-promoted Qatar Stars League side Al Shahaniya SC in Istanbul on Saturday.
Al Shahaniya gained promotion to the Qatar Stars League (QSL) after they were crowned champions of the second division at the end of the previous season.
Chiefs have played two matches behind closed doors
It will be Chiefs’ third match in Turkey after playing two games behind closed doors against local teams that the club is yet to reveal.
However, Al Shahaniya will present a different test for Nabi’s men who have intensified their preparations since flying to Turkey two weeks ago.
Nabi has been taking his players through their paces as he shapes them up for the 2024-25 PSL season where there is hope of a change in fortunes after finishing 10th in the 2023-24 campaign.
Amakhosi’s new signings unlikely to play on Saturday
Part of those who have been training with the squad is goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari who has ditched TS Galaxy for the Glamour Boys while Bongani Sam is also believed to be close to a move.
Chiefs announced that they will be unveiling their new signings on July 28 and it is unlikely that the two will feature on Saturday.
However, the match will give Nabi a true picture of where his squad is in terms of being ready for the new season.
