Teboho Mokoena: Mamelodi Sundowns name hefty price for in-demand midfielder

The Brazilians are not willing to lose one of their star players on the cheap

Egyptian giants Al Ahly will have to fork out a mammoth offer to price Teboho Mokoena from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly have reportedly made Mokoena their chief transfer target to replace Aliou Dieng who is on his way out of the club but the Brazilians have no intentions to sell.

With that stance, the PSL champions have placed a $3 million (R54 million) price tag on the midfielder which is meant to wade off any interest.

Sundowns view Mokoena as one of their untouchables and are not willing to sell him given they will be challenging on multiple fronts next season with the expanded FIFA Club World Cup also set to take place in June 2025.

Al Ahly willing to pay R36 million but Sundowns have rejected it

With that, Al Ahly will have to pay a premium to Masandawana to land their target who could unite with South African compatriot Percy Tau in the unlikely event that the transfer materialises.

As per Cairo24, Al Ahly have already made an approach to Sundowns with the view of signing Mokoena with an offer of $2 million (R36 million) reportedly tabled but the South African giants have rejected it.

Whether Al Ahly will come back with an improved bid remains to be seen but the Cairo Red Devils are believed to view Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan as the alternative if they cannot land Mokoena.
