The Serbian coach has ditched the PSL club for a new challenge in North Africa

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has finally confirmed that coach Sead Ramovic is set to join Moroccan club Raja Casablanca.

The Serbian tactician has been linked with the vacant job at Raja since former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer left the position after winning the league last month for an opportunity in the Middle East and now, the speculation has ended.

Ramovic will take over the Moroccan giants which will see him reunite with ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss Rhulani Mokwena who was hired by cross-town rivals Wydad Athletic Club early this month.

“It’s a done deal. Ramovic is expected to fly out after the friendly with Yanga FC and he will take with him the two assistant coaches, Beganovic Adnan and Kodro Mustafa, as well as goalkeeper coach Greg Etafia,” said Sukazi, as per SABC.

Galaxy happy to release Ramovic for a better opportunity

“It is part of our moral fibre to release our people when they are called for better opportunities elsewhere. We’ve mostly done it with our players and our coaches are not excluded from this governing principle at our Club.

“Raja Casablanca is amongst the top 5 clubs in the African continent and it is not so often that a coach gets head-hunted for their head coach position. Therefore, our blessings as given to coach Sead Ramovic are informed by our appreciation of the opportunity afforded to him. We wish him well and he will be an extension of our family in Morocco.”

Ramovic has been at Galaxy since 2021 and takes over Raja who will now be competing in the CAF Champions League next season, a new experience for him.

Tim Sukazi has already found a replacement for the Serbian

His battles with Mokwena will be interesting to watch given the latter is looking to revive Wydad’s fortunes after their struggles of recent years.

Meanwhile, Sukazi has confirmed that he has already found a replacement for the outgoing coach and he will likely be in charge when they face Bundesliga side Augsburg in the inaugural Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

“I’ve already got a coach, he is on his way to SA and has got a UEFA Pro Licence, which is a prerequisite for TS Galaxy. We plan in advance – we don’t react,” Sukazi told SABC on Tuesday.
