Bafana Bafana international Thabo Cele is among the new players signed by Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old – alongside Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo, was brought in to help the Glamour Boys strengthen after the inconsistencies registered in the ongoing season, especially in the Premier Soccer League.
After making his move, Cele was part of the Amakhosi squad that controversially fell against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby by a solitary goal. He then made his full debut in the 2-2 draw with AmaZulu before again featuring Nasreddine Nabi's team in the hard-fought 1-0 win over Stellenbosch.
Cele is expected to improve Amakhosi's midfield and ensure the team dominates matches in that department.
‘It was nice to come into the Chiefs environment' – Cele

“I don’t know how to explain the feeling; from the first minute I landed at the airport, the welcome I got from the Club was amazing, not only for me but for my family. People at home went crazy, calling me to say how happy they were,” he opened up to the team's media team.
“So, for me, it’s a massive opportunity to be at such a big team and be able to grow as a player, and hopefully help the Club through this process, because we feel we are on the right track to ultimately win trophies again.
“There is a sense of positivity from the guys in the squad, as well as everybody at the club, even the security staff. I am also a guy who likes to exude positivity, so it was really nice to come into this environment,” Cele concluded.
The next assignment for Chiefs will be on Saturday in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 against Chippa United.
